As the week ends..it looks like..thanks to all of you, I will be spared the cold shock of jumping into the icy waters at the Polar Dip tomorrow at the Alfond Youth Center, however, Jay is not so lucky. As of nine oclock this morning I have raised almost 300.00 for the scholarships for Camp Tracy, Jay 150.00. Now ofcourse theres some guilt with Jay having a cold and ofcourse there is that small chance he may get some sort of life-threating illness from making the leap..he will be ok though I'm sure, or at least pretty sure.
Our Strange Maine this week was fun to research ( I know my dorky-ness is showing) retail in Maine was actually pretty interesting..There was so information to much to choose from..Grant's Portous..Peck's and so many other stores that have rich history's and have had such an impact on Maine's downtown's. I found out in my research that Lamey-Wellehan's Shoes were longtime employees at Peck's Department Shoes in Lewiston. Also, Wellehan himself met Norman Rockwell during WWI and was asked to sit for a Rockwell Painting, however he got ill on his first sitting and died shortly after..
Interesting? Maybe?
Thanks to Corey for stopping by and giving us all the information on The Harlem Rockets Comedy Show..that's happening at the Skowhegan High School on Sunday at 5pm, it really is fun for the whole family..
Have a great weekend and hope to see you tonight at Hafford's.

March 25'th
Good Tuesday to you,
The sun is shining and maybe no need for a winter coat today. I hope the weather lasts for the polar dip this weekend, for it looks like I'll be the one jumping into the icy waters at the Alfond Youth Centers..I just keep reminding myself it's for the kids.."It's for the Kids" yeah..that will keep me warm.
Our Strange Maine this week is based on retail yesterday question What is the oldest shoe store in the US? (which is right here in Maine), the answer is Coburn Shoe in Belfast. Today's question was much easier but it was really my tribute to Jay's first employer, Zayre's.
This Friday should be fun at Haffords, we have the Bull..known to his friends as Bucky and we also will be continuing on to our seventh week of the Air Guitar Competition with some special guests. I like to think of the last Friday in month as a Rock-n-Roll Circus..maybe we should add some other acts..hum a dancing trained monkey perhaps? Either way it should be some serious fun.

Wednesday March 18'th
Snow..I think at this point it just gets us down. I just started getting to the point of forgetting my heavy winter jacket. From the report of one caller..Jay's been a little too optimistic about the end of winter, I do hope he's right though.
Our Stange Maine this morning included the question on the theme of All Things Green- what is the oldest Golf Course In Maine? (I found out later it is the 8'Th oldest in the Nation).
The answer was Kebo Valley in Bar Harbor-congratulations to Todd for knowing that. We've been giving away family four packs of tickets to Smuckers Stars on Ice all week so I hope he and his family have good time.
We also talked to Audrey the Healer this morning, she gave some interesting stats on what people find annoying, talking on a cell phone while ordering at counter was the one that hit home for me.
Remember the first day of spring is tomorrow and we'll be celebrating all morning long.
Have great rest of your day

March 13
Good Causual Thursday,
Sunshine, very nice! Besides still being under the weather myself, the weather outside looks great.
Today's Our Strange Maine question was what brewery is responsible for Rip Tide Red Ale, winner of a gold medal in the World Beer Championships, one of the most important beer competitions in the world...the answer was Casco Bay. Tomorrow we will finish out this weeks theme of Maine Beers..in celebration of St. Patrick's Day.
Jay and I will be at Haffords tomorrow night for the Friday Mix Party, and some of the coolest people from Maine General Hospital will be there, a party of sorts for my departure from my position in the ER. Ofcourse the Air Guitar Competitions continue, hopefully my last memory of my time at Maine General will be of one of my co-workers jammin to some AC/DC on stage at Haffords..
Enjoy your day,
Jenay

Tuesday March 11'th
Good day,
I think reading about a guy in a chicken suit can warm up even the coldest of morning,s so thanks strange guy in a chicken suit for giving something to chuckle about in our own local paper. (Unless of course, your creepy then please move on down the highway).
We continued our beer theme on Our Strange Maine..the question today was what Portland Brewery makes Old Thumper Ale, named one of the ten best American beer by Business Week?
Shipyard was the answer..Jenny from Winslow was the winner.
Also, I just confirmed that Erin McNally will be joining us for Air Guitar this month. She's won 4'Th the National Air Guitar Championships. She from Portland Maine and she's the woman to beat in Boston this year... In addition, The Lewiston Sun Journal will be coming up that night to do a piece on our Air Guitar Competition. I'll keep you posted on exactly when you can see Erin..
Well, I have to go finish my last week of work at the hospital...
Have a great day,
Jenay.

Monday March 10'th
Hum,
Having a great day I hope. Jay keeps saying we reached the end of winter, no more worries about snow, cancellations and bad driving conditions, we'll see, Jay, we'll see.
The Our Strange Maine Question on Maine Beer had some great guesses but only one winner..the question was what is the name of the first micro-brewery in the northeast (which still exists today) established in 1983 in Portland Maine?
If you didn't hear the answer..it was Geary's..congratulations to Tammy, for looking in her cooler (she works at a local store ) and getting it right. Unfair advantage really.
We also talked to The Menu Maven this morning, she our own secret restaurant shopper, whom so far has had some fine meals in Central Maine. This weekend she and some friends went to The Point Afta and had some really good seafood. A good meal all around for her. The Menu Maven has also dined at The Cancun Restaurant in Downtown Waterville and Beale Street BBQ in Augusta..so far she hasn't had a bad meal yet.
Well, thanks for listening (and reading)

Well,
The Air Guitar rounds at Haffords went well Friday night. We have had some really great proformances, Axel (stage name) was our winner this week. I think the dive off the stage into a knee skid really helped him win over the judges. The finals in May should be quite a show.
As for next week, we are welcoming our newest addition to the staff, Paul, whom I'm told goes no where without his hand sanitizer..hum...No really, he will take over as operations manager so that Jay can achieve his goal, now that he will have more time, to try to make me a republican.
You can also listen to Paul everyday from noon to three, call and welcome him.
Finally, to celebrate St. Patricks Day this week, I've researched Maine's beer industry and our morning trivia questions called Our Strange Maine...is centered on Beer.
Have a great week
