Jay's Form Letter

Dear _________,

I regret offending you (again). In fairness to everyone else here, my opinions represent no ones but my own. The remarks were a poor attempt at (cheap humor/shift blame/making light of a difficult situation/blaming the governor). Calling the ________________was excessive in making the point. I simply meant to say________________________________________but not _________________ or _______________________________,that was just plain rude.
I realize in context with some of my other espoused beliefs that such a comment may sound more serious, but I insist I intended nothing more. I truly love and accept all peoples, regardless of race, orientation, etc.; but my tendency to invoke stereotypes as humor creates the need explain myself as someone who objects to hate and prejudice. I now see the easier route to defining myself more favorably as keeping those comments out of our conversation.

With your permission, I like to offer this as a public apology by posting it on our blog and apologizing on the air.

If I don't offend you again for at least a couple years this time, would you consider it progress? I may be more flawed than others, but we're the type of personalities willing to bare our true souls for our listeners rather than follow a script, and with that approach comes some risk. Regardless of whether or not you agree, you're feedback is always welcome.

Sincerely,

Jay

April 22'nd

Happy Earth Day!

Hope you enjoyed the listener suggested John Denver during the 80's at 8, ahh..I had visions of his plant a tree psa's you used see during Saturday Morning Cartoons. There is a whole host of old psa's on www.youtube.com , including the crying Indian, Mr Yuk and one about energy saving I remember watching soo many times, we played the Woodsie Owl Psa about litter..we really littered a lot back in the 70's and 80's, trash all over the parks.

The strange Maine question focused on Maine's First..Maine was the on the first to enact what ornamental policy? The bottle bill was the answer.

On a personal note..my daughter finally made to Virgina..with lime green luggage.

April 14'th

Good day All,

I spent the weekend trying to get my friend, James, onto Big Brother 10. The auditions were held in Bangor on Saturday and as a good agent I stood in cold and wind, surveying his competition and doing my best to support and coach. It was an interesting experience to say the least and it would be cool if any one I saw in Bangor made it on to the cast.
This week our Strange Maine is focusing on what is actually still made in Maine. I love it when I find some interesting product being manufactured right here in Maine..like today for instance, though I guess it was easy for most, Val Firth in Newport is the largest manufacturer of drum sticks in the nation. Tomorrow will continue on that theme.

We are getting geared up for the finals of the Maine State Air-Guitar on May 2'nd .just one more week to qualify. Ahh, we've seen so many air-filled guitarist..it's not going to be an easy pick.

April 7'th Monday- A quick goodbye

I just wanted to say quick good bye to our friend and winter companion..Mixed Nuts, the chipmunk that has been harassing and amusing us for the past couple months at the station. We walked into the building to find the have- a- heart trap (hid nicely under some newspaper, with Hershey miniatures as the bait) worked, and our little furry buddy had finally been out-smarted. I think I can say for all of here at Mix 107.9, though none of us appreciated the "gifts" left our desks, the ripped up food packages and the ongoing fear you were going fall through the ceiling tiles and land on my head, you, Mixed Nuts, you will not be soon forgotten. Good luck Mixed Nuts, good luck.

Friday March 28'th

As the week ends..it looks like..thanks to all of you, I will be spared the cold shock of jumping into the icy waters at the Polar Dip tomorrow at the Alfond Youth Center, however, Jay is not so lucky. As of nine oclock this morning I have raised almost 300.00 for the scholarships for Camp Tracy, Jay 150.00. Now ofcourse theres some guilt with Jay having a cold and ofcourse there is that small chance he may get some sort of life-threating illness from making the leap..he will be ok though I'm sure, or at least pretty sure.

Our Strange Maine this week was fun to research ( I know my dorky-ness is showing) retail in Maine was actually pretty interesting..There was so information to much to choose from..Grant's Portous..Peck's and so many other stores that have rich history's and have had such an impact on Maine's downtown's. I found out in my research that Lamey-Wellehan's Shoes were longtime employees at Peck's Department Shoes in Lewiston. Also, Wellehan himself met Norman Rockwell during WWI and was asked to sit for a Rockwell Painting, however he got ill on his first sitting and died shortly after..
Interesting? Maybe?

Thanks to Corey for stopping by and giving us all the information on The Harlem Rockets Comedy Show..that's happening at the Skowhegan High School on Sunday at 5pm, it really is fun for the whole family..

Have a great weekend and hope to see you tonight at Hafford's.

March 25'th

Good Tuesday to you,

The sun is shining and maybe no need for a winter coat today. I hope the weather lasts for the polar dip this weekend, for it looks like I'll be the one jumping into the icy waters at the Alfond Youth Centers..I just keep reminding myself it's for the kids.."It's for the Kids" yeah..that will keep me warm.
Our Strange Maine this week is based on retail yesterday question What is the oldest shoe store in the US? (which is right here in Maine), the answer is Coburn Shoe in Belfast. Today's question was much easier but it was really my tribute to Jay's first employer, Zayre's.

This Friday should be fun at Haffords, we have the Bull..known to his friends as Bucky and we also will be continuing on to our seventh week of the Air Guitar Competition with some special guests. I like to think of the last Friday in month as a Rock-n-Roll Circus..maybe we should add some other acts..hum a dancing trained monkey perhaps? Either way it should be some serious fun.

Wednesday March 18'th

Snow..I think at this point it just gets us down. I just started getting to the point of forgetting my heavy winter jacket. From the report of one caller..Jay's been a little too optimistic about the end of winter, I do hope he's right though.

Our Stange Maine this morning included the question on the theme of All Things Green- what is the oldest Golf Course In Maine? (I found out later it is the 8'Th oldest in the Nation).

The answer was Kebo Valley in Bar Harbor-congratulations to Todd for knowing that. We've been giving away family four packs of tickets to Smuckers Stars on Ice all week so I hope he and his family have good time.

We also talked to Audrey the Healer this morning, she gave some interesting stats on what people find annoying, talking on a cell phone while ordering at counter was the one that hit home for me.

Remember the first day of spring is tomorrow and we'll be celebrating all morning long.
Have great rest of your day

Jenay
